Belaruskali has initiated legal proceedings at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, seeking $12 billion in damages from Lithuania for the halted transit of its potash fertilizers. In January 2022, the Lithuanian government annulled a cargo transportation agreement between Belaruskali and the railway operator Lietuvos Geležinkeliai, effectively stopping the movement of Belarusian potash through Lithuania. Belaruskali contends that this termination was unlawful. A tribunal consisting of three arbitrators has been established to review the case, with proceedings set to be held in Geneva.
