In anticipation of the upcoming critical spring spraying season, Adama Agricultural Solutions has announced the release of three novel fungicide co-formulations in the UK market. These products integrate the active ingredient prothioconazole with combinations of other fungicides to enhance disease control in several crops. ## Azole co-formulation The first of these new products, named Maganic, combines prothioconazole with difenoconazole, forming a dual azole fungicide mix. This formulation is mainly designed for the T3 timing in wheat, providing a tebuconazole-free treatment option. According to the company, Maganic delivers robust protection against significant diseases affecting wheat, barley, rye, triticale, and oilseed rape. It ensures reliable control of major ear diseases, including brown rust and septoria. It also leverages Adama’s Asorbital formulation technology for faster absorption and protection. The technology involves a patented solvent and adjuvant system that enhances the uptake and internal movement of the active ingredients. ## SDHI partnership The second formulation, Avastel, merges prothioconazole with the SDHI fungicide fluxapyroxad. Suitable for application at the T1, T2, and T3 timings in wheat, and T1 and T2 in barley, Avastel is crafted using the same Asorbital technology. It demonstrates broad-spectrum control of key foliar and stem-base diseases in wheat and is effective against diseases like brown rust, yellow rust, and tan spot in barley. Field trials have shown that Avastel maintains a stronger flag leaf, essential for maximizing crop yield. ## Strobilurin integration The third product in this new line is Maxentis, which combines prothioconazole with the strobilurin azoxystrobin. This formulation offers flexibility in application rates and timing and is compatible with a variety of partner products. Maxentis effectively controls a range of foliar and ear diseases, including septoria, fusarium, various rusts, and powdery mildew in cereals, as well as sclerotinia and alternaria in oilseed rape. For wheat and triticale, Maxentis can be applied from stem elongation to the end of flowering, with similar application windows for barley and rye. Additionally, it is approved for managing fusarium on wheat ears and crown rust on oats.
