The company doubles its production capacity from 25,000 to 50,000 metric tons to enhance its capability to supply high-quality bentonite sulfur fertilizers and support sustainable agriculture in India.

Coromandel International has significantly enhanced its production capabilities by inaugurating a new sulfur manufacturing plant at its integrated facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The new development doubles the plant’s sulfur fertilizer capacity from 25,000 to 50,000 metric tons.

The Visakhapatnam facility is a cornerstone of Coromandel’s production network, producing approximately 1.2 million metric tons of complex fertilizers annually, alongside phosphoric and sulfuric acids. The addition of the new plant aims to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality bentonite sulfur fertilizers, crucial for improving soil health and crop yields. This strategic expansion significantly enhances Coromandel’s presence in the specialty nutrients market, supporting sustainable agriculture in India.

The need for increased sulfur production is driven by the rising issue of sulfur deficiency in Indian soils, exacerbated by intensive farming practices and unbalanced fertilizer usage. The new facility, equipped with advanced German technology, will also focus on fortifying sulfur fertilizers with essential micronutrients, addressing the diverse nutritional demands of Indian agriculture.
