# Genesis Fertilizers partners with Arctic Gateway Group to enhance logistics for its nitrogen fertilizer plant in Saskatchewan

The partnership is expected to leverage AGG's rail and port infrastructure to optimize fertilizer distribution to both domestic and international markets.

Arctic Gateway Group (AGG) and Genesis Fertilizers aim to reduce fertilizer import and export costs, improve supply chain reliability, and expand market access. The two parties signed a letter of intent establishing a cooperative framework to enhance business opportunities and develop efficient logistical and supply chain solutions. This strategic partnership will facilitate new import and export shipments starting in 2025.

The agreement involves sourcing and importing phosphate and ammonium sulphate from international suppliers to be used as feedstock at Genesis Fertilizers’ proposed nitrogen fertilizers facility in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan. Plans are also in place to distribute these supplies domestically using facilities at the Port of Churchill and through Genesis Fertilizers’ planned SuperCenter distribution network.

Jason Mann, President and CEO of Genesis Fertilizers, highlighted the importance of the partnership, “This new collaboration with AGG is a significant step forward for Genesis Fertilizers, made possible by the substantial efforts of AGG to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the Hudson Bay Railway and expand the capabilities of the Port of Churchill.” He added that the reliable infrastructure provided by AGG, along with the shorter route to world markets through Canada’s Arctic Trade Corridor, would reduce transportation costs and improve supply chains.

Chris Avery, CEO of AGG, also expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “This partnership demonstrates the value AGG brings to Western Canada’s agricultural and resource industries, especially in the face of trade uncertainties with the United States. Through AGG’s shorter route to world markets, we can diversify western Canadian trade routes and continue to provide northern import and export options to Canadian businesses and families.”
