Publication Date: 15.04.2025, 14:00

Rebranding signals company’s effort to deepen work in pharmaceuticals and electronics.

Gaylord Chemical Company has rebranded as gChem marking a shift in how the Louisiana-based manufacturer presents itself to customers in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and microelectronics sectors.

Founded in 1960 and based in Covington, La, the company produces Dimethyl Sulfoxide, or DMSO, a solvent used in drug development, electronics manufacturing and other industrial processes. Its production facility is located in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Chief Executive Frank Roederer said the rebranding reflects gChem’s long-term focus on developing new uses for DMSO and attracting technical talent. “We are leading the way in a new era of DMSO by providing chemistry with a conscience,” he said in a statement.

The name change follows a broader effort by the company to position itself as a scientific innovator while maintaining standards for product safety and environmental compliance. The firm said it intends to continue investing in research and development while expanding its workforce.

gChem remains privately held. Additional details were not disclosed.
