A new $100 million agro-industrial complex will be launched in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region in May 2025. The project, located in the Shardara district, is being developed by Agriqa Farms with the support of Italy’s TRAMITE Group. It aims to expand agricultural processing, increase production capacity, and boost Kazakhstan’s export potential in Eurasian and European markets. The complex will include a 22-hectare greenhouse for year-round vegetable cultivation, a tomato paste plant with a daily processing capacity of 3,360 tons, and an alfalfa granulator producing 30 tons per hour. Additional facilities will include a fruit and vegetable processing plant capable of drying and freezing 200 tons of raw material per day, as well as storage infrastructure for 20,000 tons of fresh produce and cold storage for 10,000 tons. Drip irrigation systems are planned for installation by 2026, covering up to 8,000 hectares. TRAMITE Group is positioning Kazakhstan as a strategic location for tomato product processing and export. Italy imports approximately 180,000 tons of tomato paste annually, and the company is seeking to relocate part of this production to Central Asia, citing Kazakhstan’s natural resources, solar conditions, and water availability as key advantages. The project aligns with Kazakhstan’s national strategy to increase the share of processed agricultural products to 70%.
