# Oppy and DEEP report progress on geothermal-powered greenhouse project in Canada

Oppy and DEEP Earth Energy Production (DEEP) announced they are making steady progress on their geothermal greenhouse project in Canada, marking the first anniversary of their partnership.

The initiative seeks to develop one of Canada’s most energy-efficient greenhouses by combining DEEP’s geothermal energy technology with Oppy’s expertise in the fresh produce industry. The greenhouse facility is designed to use the Earth’s natural heat for power and heating needs, minimizing reliance on fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“This project represents a major step toward expanding geothermal and greenhouse industries into regions of Canada that have never seen such a model before,” said Kirsten Marcia, founder of DEEP. “We are making a significant investment to start and grow an industry in Canada, and we look forward to the opportunities ahead as we bring this vision to life with Oppy.”

DEEP also engages with the Saskatchewan Natural Resource Centre of Excellence and First Nations communities to explore equity ownership opportunities. The company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Centre, establishing a framework for First Nations investment in both DEEP’s geothermal power project and the greenhouse development.
