# Phospholutions signs U.S. fertilizer distribution deal with The Andersons

Publication Date: 20.05.2025, 14:00

Partnership to expand access to phosphorus-efficient inputs ahead of 2026 growing season.

Fertilizer technology firm Phospholutions has signed a distribution agreement with The Andersons, a Fortune 500 agribusiness, in a move to broaden availability of its phosphorus-efficient fertilizer, RhizoSorb, for U.S. growers starting with the 2026 crop season.

The deal positions The Andersons as a national distributor for RhizoSorb, a patented product designed to improve phosphorus uptake in crops such as corn and soybeans. The agreement marks a milestone in Phospholutions’ domestic expansion strategy as it seeks to address cost pressures and sustainability demands in fertilizer use.

Hunter Swisher, Phospholutions’ chief executive, said The Andersons’ footprint in the Midwest and track record in agricultural distribution made it a strategic fit. “Their trusted presence and long-standing commitment to innovation in agriculture make them an ideal partner as we scale RhizoSorb across the U.S.,” he said.

The distribution agreement follows an additional investment in Phospholutions by Maumee Ventures, the venture capital arm of The Andersons. The financial backing underscores the agribusiness’s confidence in RhizoSorb’s commercial potential and environmental benefits.

“As an early investor and partner, we continue to be impressed by the company’s progress in scaling phosphorus efficiency solutions,” said Andy Spahr, senior vice president of agribusiness at The Andersons.

Phospholutions also named Tim Mahoney vice president of business development to support the rollout. He will lead efforts in partnership growth, manufacturing, and international distribution. “This agreement is a pivotal moment for retailers seeking supply stability in a constrained market,” Mahoney said.

Phospholutions, based in State College, Pennsylvania, develops fertilizer technologies intended to reduce phosphorus runoff and lower input costs. The Andersons, headquartered in Maumee, Ohio, operates across grain, plant nutrients, and renewable sectors in North America.
