Renewed deal secures Jordanian Potash's presence in Chinese fertilizer market.

The Arab Potash Company (APC) has renewed its supply agreement with China’s Sinochem Fertilizer Macao, extending Sinochem’s role as the exclusive distributor of Jordanian potash in the Chinese market through the end of 2028.

The agreement was signed in Amman in the presence of APC chairperson Shehadeh Abu Hdeib and Sinofert chief executive Wang Tielin, with APC chief executive Maen Nsour and Sinofert deputy general manager Chen Shengnan formalizing the deal.

Under the renewed terms, APC will continue to supply potash to Sinochem, although the contracted volumes were not disclosed. In 2023–24, China imported about 1.1mn tonnes of Jordanian potash, according to Global Trade Tracker data, including 374,102 tonnes in 2024.

Company officials said the renewal builds on agreements signed in 2018 and 2022, and reflects both sides’ commitment to strengthening long-term cooperation. Abu Hdeib described the partnership as “a milestone” that goes beyond commercial transactions, positioning Jordan as a reliable supplier to one of the world’s largest agricultural markets.

Nsour emphasized that the agreement supports APC’s role in global agricultural supply chains, while Wang said it deepens trade relations between Jordan and China and contributes to sustainable solutions for China’s farming sector.

Sinochem has been the exclusive agent for Jordanian potash in China since 2018, a position that APC said reinforces its presence in a strategic growth market while supporting efforts to safeguard global food security.
