An ammonia leak at a CVR Partners fertilizer facility sent several people to receive medical evaluation Saturday afternoon, company officials confirmed.

The ammonia release occurred around 4 p.m. on October 11 at the Coffeyville plant. CVR Partners reported that multiple individuals were transported offsite for evaluation, though the company did not specify the exact number of people affected.

Local authorities assured residents there is no threat to the public. Montgomery County Sheriff Ron Wade expressed support for those affected in a social media statement, thanking emergency responders from area fire, EMS, police, and sheriff’s departments for their swift response.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals, their families, and colleagues affected by the incident,” Wade said, wishing a full recovery to anyone injured.

CVR Partners said it has responded to the incident and launched an investigation into what caused the leak. The company promised to provide updates as more information becomes available.
