# HGS BioScience acquires NutriAg to expand North American footprint in bionutritionals

Deal combines US. and Canadian expertise to build one of the region’s most comprehensive biostimulant platforms.

HGS BioScience, a US-based supplier of humic and fulvic acid products backed by Paine Schwartz Partners, has acquired Toronto-based NutriAg, a developer of bionutritional technologies. The transaction broadens HGS’s presence across North America and strengthens its position in the fast-growing biostimulant and bionutritional markets.

The combination joins HGS’s US market reach and vertically integrated production base with NutriAg’s product portfolio, Canadian distribution network, and research capabilities. Together, the firms aim to create one of the most complete biostimulant and bionutritional platforms in the region.

“The biostimulant and bionutritional spaces are among the fastest-growing in agriculture — but they are fragmented and often confusing for retailers,” said Mike Steffeck, HGS BioScience’s chief executive. “By bringing HGS and NutriAg together, we are building one of the most robust platforms and pipelines in the market.”

NutriAg President and CEO Martin Bloomberg called the deal “the next chapter” for the company, adding that the partnership gives retailers a single supplier and farmers access to “proven, field-tested products that drive resilience, productivity, and profitability.”

The combined company will offer a broader range of products including humic and fulvic acids, amino acids, seaweed extracts, and microbial technologies. It will also integrate NutriAg’s proprietary PolyAldoCarbosate (PAC) platform with HGS’s HumiK ONE and GrowPlex brands.

Based in Jacksonville, Fla., HGS operates seven production facilities across the US and serves customers in more than 40 countries. NutriAg, founded in 1993, supplies a network of distributors and cooperatives in North America and overseas with a portfolio of more than 300 products.

The companies said the deal positions HGS as a leading partner for biostimulant and bionutritional solutions, combining scale, science, and product diversity to help growers improve yields and profitability.
