Shchelkovo Agrokhim has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Future of Egypt Agency for Sustainable Development, aiming to deepen cooperation in agriculture and implement joint investment projects in Egypt and the wider region. Under the agreement, the parties will work to meet Egypt’s domestic demand for sugar beet seeds, chemical crop protection products, and micronutrient fertilizers, while also exploring opportunities for regional exports across the Middle East and Africa. As an initial step, Shchelkovo Agrokhim agreed to supply Egypt with at least 20,000 seeding units of sugar beet annually from 2026 to 2028. The deliveries will be made through the company’s local representative, Betaren Egypt, and accompanied by quality, phytosanitary, and resistance certificates. The Russian company also plans to provide technical consultations to Egyptian farmers on sugar beet cultivation. Beyond sugar beet, Shchelkovo Agrokhim will supply seeds of other strategically important crops for agroecological testing, including sorghum, spring wheat, barley, lentils, and soybeans. The trials will help identify varieties best adapted to local conditions for state registration and future commercial use. A separate agreement within the Memorandum outlines plans to build a seed production plant in Egypt focused on strategic crops, primarily sugar beet, and to establish a joint venture for the manufacturing of crop protection chemicals and micronutrient fertilizers. According to the company, these initiatives mark a significant step in strengthening Shchelkovo Agrokhim’s position in the African agricultural market and expanding its international production base.
