Corteva leads $10 million investment in IBI Ag to advance nanobody-based bioinsecticides

IBI Ag, an Israeli agricultural biotechnology company developing bioinsecticides based on nanobody (single-domain antibody) technology, has completed a $10 million Series A funding round led by Corteva Agriscience.

The funding, finalized with the second and final tranche of the Series A round, also included participation from The Trendlines Group, Iron Nation, Consensus Business Group, Bandera Capital, and First Imagine Ventures. The Israel Innovation Authority provided a grant in support of the round.

IBI Ag said the capital will accelerate the development and regulatory advancement of its antibody-based bioinsecticide platform. The company’s proprietary technology uses nanobodies—adapted from the pharmaceutical sector—to create selective and potent biological insect control products designed to minimize environmental impact and preserve beneficial insects.

“Our platform introduces entirely new modes of action for protecting high-value crops from both sucking and chewing insects,” said Arnon Heyman, chief executive of IBI Ag. “With the completion of our Series A, we are well positioned to bring our novel biological solutions closer to farmers worldwide, supporting both productivity and sustainability.”

Corteva invested through its Corteva Catalyst platform, which partners with early-stage companies developing disruptive technologies in food and agriculture. “The collaboration between IBI Ag and Corteva is a clear example of how working together can deliver innovation that increases performance and provides more sustainable solutions in crop protection,” said Tom Greene, senior director at Corteva and global leader for Corteva Catalyst.

IBI Ag was founded by The Trendlines Group in partnership with researchers Dr. Amir Ayali and Dr. Rony Oren Benaroya. The company focuses on developing a new generation of biological pest control products with a lower ecological footprint, positioning itself at the intersection of biotechnology and sustainable agriculture.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
