U.S. fertilizer technology company secures key regulatory clearances, expands internationally, and names new executives as it scales phosphorus-efficiency solutions.

A U.S.-based fertilizer technology company, [Phospholutions](https://www.phospholutions.com), which focuses on improving phosphorus efficiency, has reported a series of regulatory, commercial, and leadership developments as it enters its next phase of growth.

Over the summer, the company’s flagship product, RhizoSorb, received approval from the Association of American Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO) as a beneficial substance. The designation allows RhizoSorb, either as a standalone product or blended with fertilizers, to be marketed for improving phosphate use efficiency. The company also secured product registration in California, one of the most tightly regulated agricultural markets in the United States, enabling commercial sales across the western states.

Phospholutions said the approvals support broader market expansion. The company has begun selling into Canada and launched field trials in Central and South America, targeting a range of soil types and cropping systems. According to the company, trial results to date indicate more efficient phosphorus uptake by crops and reduced nutrient losses, aligning productivity gains with environmental objectives.

In parallel with these developments, Phospholutions announced a series of leadership appointments on January 14, 2026, as phosphorus supply constraints and price volatility increase following its designation as a U.S. critical mineral.

Justin Archibee was appointed Chief Financial Officer, bringing prior finance leadership experience from The Mosaic Company, Walt Disney World, and Publix Super Markets. He will oversee financial planning, capital allocation, and long-term strategy as the company scales up its technology adoption.

Michael Castiglione was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, expanding his responsibilities to include manufacturing partnerships, distribution strategy, and raw material procurement. Steve Levitsky was promoted to Chief Administrative and Sustainability Officer, with oversight of internal operations, risk management, compliance, and environmental health and safety.

Phospholutions also added Weston Heide, an agribusiness executive at The Andersons, to its board of directors. Heide brings nearly two decades of experience in grain, nutrient distribution, and agricultural supply chains.
