# Brazil seeks to increase potash fertilizer imports from Belarus

Brazil's growing agricultural sector needs stable supplies.

Brazil is looking to increase its imports of potash fertilizers from Belarus as its agricultural sector continues to expand, according to Brazil’s ambassador to Belarus, Bernard Kingl.

Speaking after a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kingl said Brazil aims not only to maintain current volumes of Belarusian potash imports but to raise them in the coming years. He emphasized that Brazil’s fast-growing agricultural sector requires reliable, consistent fertilizer supplies.

Belarusian agrochemicals are regarded as among the highest quality on the global market, Kingl said, adding that potash fertilizers produced in the city of Soligorsk are particularly well suited to the needs of Brazilian farmers.

Brazil is one of the world’s largest agricultural producers and a major importer of fertilizers, relying heavily on overseas suppliers to support crop yields. Belarus is a key global producer of potash, an essential nutrient for crops such as soybeans, corn, and sugarcane.
