# PhosAgro expands fertilizer shipments to Brazil, lifting import share to 16%

PhosAgro has increased its fertilizer shipments to Brazil by 2.5 times over the past decade, raising its share of the country’s phosphate fertilizer imports to 16%, the company said during a bilateral business forum in Brasília.

Mikhail Sterkin, PhosAgro’s deputy chief executive for sales and marketing, said the company supplied 1.7 million metric tons of fertilizer to Brazilian farmers last year, underscoring Brazil’s position as one of its key export markets. Over the same period, PhosAgro’s share of Brazil’s total phosphate fertilizer imports nearly doubled, he said.

PhosAgro produces 58 grades of mineral fertilizers, including 16 containing micronutrients, allowing it to tailor products to Brazil’s regional farming conditions.

Beyond commercial supplies, the company has expanded educational and research initiatives in Brazil. It launched the Pro Agro Lectorium platform in English and Portuguese, which has been recognized by the BRICS Business Council’s Agribusiness Working Group and includes more than 420 lectures from academics and industry specialists.

PhosAgro has also established 60 soil laboratories in Brazil in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization to monitor soil health and fertilizer quality.
