# Kubota enters small square baler market with dual-chamber SSB series

Manufacturer unveils high-capacity models at National Farm Machinery Show.

Kubota said it will enter the small square baler segment with the launch of its SSB Series, a high-capacity line featuring a dual-chamber design intended to increase productivity while maintaining a single row of bales.

The company introduced the machines at the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky, on February 11.

The SSB Series separates the windrow with an intake rotor that feeds two stuffer chutes. Alternating plungers form bales in two independent chambers, each equipped with its own knotter system. By producing two bales simultaneously, the company said operators can reduce field time compared with conventional single-chamber balers.

Unlike other double balers that discharge two rows, the SSB models align output into a single row using bale ramps, a design intended to simplify collection.

“Our dual-chamber design means one operator, one tractor, and one machine can do the work of two,” said Cort Morris, product manager of hay tools at Kubota. He said the system is designed to help producers maintain bale quality while improving efficiency.

Both the SSB2014 and SSB2012 are equipped with the Rasspe 6003 knotter system, which completes the tying process in 0.3 seconds, according to the company.

Kubota is offering two bale size configurations. The SSB2014 produces 14-by-18-inch bales, while the SSB2012 produces 12.25-by-18-inch bales. The smaller format allows three additional bales per bundle when used with bundling equipment, the company said.

The balers are ISOBUS compatible, enabling plug-and-play integration with compatible tractors. For operators without ISOBUS terminals, Kubota offers the optional Kverneland ISOMatch Tellus GO+ monitor for machine control and performance tracking.

The SSB Series requires tractors equipped with a 1,000-spline PTO and a minimum of 100 PTO horsepower, with 120 PTO horsepower recommended for optimal performance. The balers are compatible with the Marcrest 5250T Bale Baron when paired with Kubota’s powered ramp.

Kubota said the SSB Series will be available through its dealer network beginning in spring 2026.
