# PhosAgro builds in-house AI infrastructure to boost efficiency and data security

Company outlines strategy as it expands data centers and deploys large language models across operations.

PhosAgro is developing its own artificial intelligence infrastructure to strengthen data security, reduce reliance on foreign software and improve operational efficiency, executives said at the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Digital Forum in Moscow.

Denis Novikov, chief executive of Apatit, part of PhosAgro, said the company opted from the outset to build its own AI solutions and computing infrastructure. The group is deploying machine learning, video analytics and generative AI tools, including large language models such as GigaChat Max developed by Sberbank, within its internal IT systems. According to Novikov, the approach supports cost savings, productivity gains and improvements in workplace safety while ensuring control over commercial and production data.

PhosAgro operates two in-house data centers in Kirovsk and Cherepovets and is building a third in Volkhov in partnership with Rostelecom. The modular design allows capacity to expand as digital demand grows, with power supplied largely from the company’s own generation assets. Forum participants, including RSPP President Alexander Shokhin, said closer cooperation between hardware manufacturers and software developers will be critical to accelerating commercialization and compatibility of AI-driven industrial solutions.
