# CropX launches Apex soil sensor to deepen root zone monitoring capabilities

Publication Date: 09.04.2026, 14:00

New device enables more detailed soil monitoring across crop systems.

CropX Technologies has introduced a new soil sensor, Apex, as part of an expansion of its digital agronomy platform.

The sensor is designed to measure soil moisture, temperature and salinity at multiple depths, providing a continuous view of conditions across the root zone. It is available in 12-inch, 24-inch and 36-inch configurations and records data at four-inch intervals.

The device connects to its telemetry systems and feeds data into its platform, where it is used to generate irrigation and soil management analytics.

Chief Executive Tomer Tzach underlined the product is intended to offer more flexibility in matching soil monitoring to different crops and field conditions.

The field tests compared the sensor’s readings with laboratory soil samples across multiple soil types and irrigation scenarios, showing consistent performance during wetting and drying cycles.

Apex expands CropX’s existing hardware portfolio, which includes soil sensors, weather stations and canopy monitoring tools. The new device is positioned for applications requiring deeper or more detailed measurement of water movement in the soil, including for crops with extensive root systems.

CropX did not disclose pricing or expected adoption levels. The company plans to deploy the sensor across additional regions and crop types.
