Publication Date: 14.04.2026, 10:00

Deal expands specialty fertilizer capacity as company targets global growth.

Tessenderlo Kerley International has agreed to acquire a sulphate of potassium (SOP) production plant in Sweden from Cinis Fertilizer, expanding its footprint in specialty crop nutrition.

The asset transfer agreement, signed March 20, covers a facility designed to produce SOP, a premium potassium fertilizer used in high-value and chloride-sensitive crops. The plant was developed with a focus on environmentally oriented mineral fertilizer production.

The business will be integrated into the Agro segment of Tessenderlo Group. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The group said the deal is not expected to have a material impact on its results.

SOP fertilizers are valued for their low chloride content, making them suitable for crops such as fruits and vegetables. Demand for such products has been supported by a shift toward higher-efficiency inputs and more sustainable farming practices.

Belgium-based Tessenderlo Group operates across agriculture, bio-residual valorization, machinery and industrial solutions. The company reported revenue of €2.8 billion (roughly $3.3 billion) in 2025 and employs about 7,000 people globally.
