Increased shipments to Central Asia, Afghanistan, and China highlight export momentum supported by coordinated logistics.

Kazakhstan increased total grain transport volumes by 15% year on year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 4.1 million metric tons, according to the Ministry of Transport. Export shipments accounted for the bulk of the growth, rising 18% to 3.2 million tons, while domestic movements climbed 8% to 0.9 million tons.

Shipments to Central Asian markets led the expansion, surging 48% to 2.1 million tons, including 1.5 million tons delivered to Uzbekistan. Grain flows through or into Russia totaled 512,000 tons. Exports to Afghanistan expanded more than fourfold to 302,000 tons, while deliveries of feed flour to China doubled to 1 million tons.

The ministry stated that coordination among government agencies, transport operators, and market participants is ongoing to maintain stable logistics. An operational headquarters continues to oversee grain transportation, ensuring uninterrupted domestic and export supply chains.
