The project was presented to business leaders in the state as part of efforts to attract investment into Brazil's nascent green hydrogen sector. The facility would produce ammonia from green hydrogen generated through electrolysis powered by renewable energy. Paraná's Campos Gerais region is one of Brazil's major grain-producing areas, positioning the plant close to end-market demand for fertilizer feedstocks. Brazil imports approximately 7–8 million metric tons of urea annually, and domestic green ammonia production could help reduce that dependence while providing a lower-carbon alternative.
