Government officials and fertilizer industry leaders deliberated urea, phosphate, SSP and emerging nutrient segments at a New Delhi strategy session.

The [Fertiliser Association of India (FAI)](https://www.faidelhi.org/) held a high-level strategy session in New Delhi on September 10, bringing together senior officials from leading fertilizer companies to discuss the sector's long-term priorities. The event, which drew government representatives and industry executives, focused on strengthening India's fertilizer security, improving the operating environment for domestic producers and advancing innovation in balanced nutrient management.

Sector-specific panels covered urea, phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilizers, single super phosphate (SSP) and emerging segments, with participants formulating recommendations for policymakers. FAI Chairman Sankarasubramanian S said the industry "has demonstrated remarkable resilience in ensuring nutrient availability to farmers despite a challenging operating environment."

The India fertilizer strategy session comes as the country continues to navigate elevated import costs following the Strait of Hormuz disruption. India has mounted a series of [large-scale urea procurement tenders](https://www.fertilizerdaily.com/20260907-china-urea-india-tender-1-2-million-tonnes-2026/) since the crisis began, most recently awarding 1.78 million metric tons through RCF in August. The Union Cabinet approved approximately $4.49 billion in phosphate and potash fertilizer subsidies for the April–September 2026 kharif window, roughly $460 million above the 2025 allocation.

A separate dialogue on specialty fertilizer and bio-stimulant regulatory reforms, organized by the Indian Micro and Multi-nutrient Manufacturers' Association (IMMA), is scheduled for September 17 in New Delhi.
