The Hysata electrolyzer could yield about 120,000 more tons of renewable ammonia per gigawatt of renewable capacity, the company says.

Australia's Hysata and Singapore-based developer InterContinental Energy have signed an engineering agreement to test how the Hysata electrolyzer would perform in giga-scale hydrogen and ammonia projects. The deal, announced September 24 and detailed by the Ammonia Energy Association on October 5, formalizes four years of informal collaboration.

Hysata says its capillary-fed design runs at 95% efficiency, using 41.5 kilowatt-hours of electricity per kilogram of hydrogen. It puts that 20% ahead of any commercially available unit.

By the company's estimate, the gain equals about 120,000 more tons of renewable ammonia, worth roughly $100 million at current prices, for each gigawatt of renewable power used.

In the first phase, Hysata will supply performance data for a digital twin of InterContinental's modular P2(H2)Node production system. The partners say better design certainty could cut capital and operating costs by up to 20%.

The Hysata electrolyzer is moving toward volume production. The company opened its HysataFab line at Port Kembla in September, with planned capacity of 200 megawatts a year, and received a A$49 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency. It has one commercial order from an undisclosed customer and a demonstration agreement with Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power.

Cheaper hydrogen remains the main hurdle for green ammonia developers, including [India's GSFC, which is seeking partners for an export project](https://www.fertilizerdaily.com/20261006-gsfc-green-ammonia-joint-venture-sikka/).
