Corteva expects biologicals to reach a third of the global crop protection market within a decade, with Brazil adoption already near 65% of growers.

Corteva will use Brazil as a global base to develop and export biological products, as the crop protection company sharpens its focus after spinning off its seed business into Vylor, global commercial vice president Brook Cunningham told AgFeed on October 2.

Cunningham said Corteva biologicals and those of peers could account for a third of the global crop protection market over the next decade, and possibly more in Brazil, where about 65% of growers already use some biological product. She expects the next wave of growth to come from biocontrol tools that replace chemical treatments for pests and diseases.

The strategy builds on Corteva's 2023 acquisitions of Stoller and Spain's Symborg for about $1.6B. Corteva values its crop protection pipeline at about $11B and plans 12 new technologies over the next decade: seven new active ingredients and five biological products. Bringing a new molecule to market costs about $300M and takes 13 years, Cunningham said.

Felipe Daltro, Corteva president for Latin America, said practices developed in Brazil are already being taken to Mexico, Argentina and Paraguay.

Corteva reported H1 2026 crop protection sales of $3.85B, up 3.2%, with operating EBITDA rising to $815M from $731M.
