BHP Group will determine Jansen’s future in 2021

The international giant BHP Group (formerly BHP Billiton) has informed that it would make a final decision on the capital investments in the $ 17 billion Jansen potash project (Canada) in February 2021.

The BHP Group, which has already spent $ 2.7 billion on the Jansen project, announced back in May of this year that excess fertilizer production capacities are estimated to be used up by the middle of the next decade, while Jansen would become a “high margin, long-life” resource.

In its Q3 production report, BHP mentioned that works on Jansen were continuing and the $5 billion-plus Stage 1 materials will be presented to the board for an investment decision by February 2021.
