A world-scale ammonia plant to be built in the USA
Gulf Coast Ammonia, an American company, has announced that it will finance a project to build an anhydrous ammonia plant in Texas. The funds will be provided by Starwood Energy Group Global and Mabanaft, which own Gulf Coast Ammonia.
The new facility will have a production capacity of about 1.3 million tons of ammonia per year. Its construction will begin in the coming months with the commissioning expected in the first half of 2023. Gulf Coast Ammonia has already signed contracts for the supply of raw materials for the plant.
“This new world-class facility will meet domestic and global demands for nitrogen-based fertilizers to improve crop production and yields to feed the world’s growing population, as well as specialty chemical production on the Texas Gulf Coast,” commented Ken Koye, newly appointed CEO of Gulf Coast Ammonia.
