Fertilizer procurement in Russia may reach 8 million tons

In 2020, Russian agricultural producers plan to purchase 3.7 million tons of mineral fertilizers, which is 200 thousand tons more than a year earlier, said Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev at a recent meeting of the Russian Government.

The fertilizer application on average across the country is planned at the level of 50 kg per 1 ha of cultivated area, while in 2019 this figure was 48 kg. The prices for mineral fertilizers are stable this year, and/or have even decreased in a number of products, which will allow Russian farmers to increase their purchases.

It is planned that by 2024 the volume of mineral fertilizers purchased by Russian farmers will have reached 8 million tons.
