New urea plant to be built by 2023 in Turkey

Turkish diversified holding Gemlik Gübre announced the plans to build a new urea and UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate solution) plant in Gemlik, 125 km south of Istanbul, Turkey. The contract for engineering, the supply of all equipment and materials and construction works were received by Tecnimont, a subsidiary of Maire Tecnimont. Contract value estimated at about €200 million.

The plant will have the capacity of 1,640 MTPD of granular urea and 500 MTPD of UAN, and will run on the market-leading urea technology of Stamicarbon. Project completion is planned within about three years of its effectiveness.

Gemlik Gübre belongs to Yildirim Holding, a group already active in several fields from chemicals and fertilizers to ports and logistics. Ammonia and other fertilizers are already produced in the same industrial facility, with direct access to a Mediterranean seaport.
