Yara calls for EU help for gas supplies

The Norwegian producer of mineral fertilizers Yara International (hereinafter Yara) called on the European Union authorities to use the reserve funds to supply gas to fertilizer producers. Meanwhile, in 1Q2022, Yara’s operating margin increased from 10.2% to 14.5%.

Yara is concerned about the negative impact of the global geopolitical crisis on world food security. It calls on the member states of the European Union to improve the sustainability of agriculture and reduce its dependence on the supply of mineral fertilizers from Russia.

“It’s vital that farmers apply enough mineral fertilizers to the fields to achieve the required yields. That is why we consider it’s necessary to use state reserves to ensure the uninterrupted production of mineral fertilizers,” Yara said in a statement.
