Cargill details ESG progress in 2023 report
Cargill said in its 2023 ESG report that it has invested $78mn in efficiency and sustainability projects across its operations.
The company, which published the 164-page progress update last week, also highlighted a number of other sustainability achievements.
It said it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 10.97% from its 2017 baseline – realizing its goal of lowering ‘absolute operational’ GHG emissions by 10% by 2025. It achieved this in part by boosting its use of renewable energy.
Cargill noted, moreover, that it has treated nine billion liters of water; distributed more than $115mn to support its partners and local communities; and, since 2020, promoted regenerative agriculture on 880,000 acres of North American farmland.
