ICL Growing Solutions partners with AI startup Agrematch
The fertilizer giant ICL announced on Tuesday that its agricultural division, ICL Growing Solutions, has entered into a new strategic partnership with the Israeli company Agrematch, which it characterized as one of the most innovative AI startups in the world of agriculture.
ICL said the aim of the partnership is to use AI to discover crop-nutrition solutions that can improve crop yields and plant health. It added that it believes the combined resources, scientific and commercial knowledge, and research capabilities of the two companies could significantly advance crop nutrition.
ICL noted that Agrematch’s proprietary AI4AI platform is designed to identify active ingredients that can be used in agrochemicals – and has the potential to expedite product development and cut costs.
ICL Growing Solutions’ VP of R&D, Dr. Elinor Erez, commented that ‘This collaboration will focus on developing novel biostimulant products that provide superior results for plants. It supports our strategy to continue investing in the ag-biologicals market, which we see as highly complementary to – and aligning with – our existing agriculture business and the future of our specialty crop nutrition portfolios.’
