According to local media, the Punjab Government announced plans to inaugurate three state-of-the-art bio-fertilizer testing laboratories. These facilities, to be located in Gurdaspur, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Bathinda, come as part of a quality assurance initiative championed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The announcement was made by Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian during a meeting aimed at boosting the efficiency of the agricultural department.

During the meeting, officials stressed the importance of rigorous monitoring, demanding weekly progress reports from field officers and accountability for underperforming districts. These measures underscore the government’s commitment to improving the supply and integrity of seeds, fertilizers, and insecticides.

The meeting also highlighted the progress in wheat cultivation, with over 35 lakh hectares sowed and minor pest attacks effectively managed through diligent pest surveillance. Additionally, the Minister urged farmers to complete their e-KYC for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme to maximize the benefits.

Minister Khudian has also reiterated the government’s dedication to farmers’ welfare and underscored the importance of implementing agricultural welfare programs.
