N2OFF secures regulatory approval to enter California’s hemp market

Cannabis plant

N2OFF Inc. announced that its subsidiary Save Foods Ltd. has received regulatory clearance to offer its pre-harvest treatment, FieldProtect, in California’s robust hemp market. This approval was granted by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation and aligns with state pesticide laws and regulations.

California is a major player in the U.S. hemp industry, contributing 56% of the nation’s hemp flower production in 2022, according to a recent U.S. Department of Agriculture report. The state’s substantial output primarily serves the production of CBD and other cannabinoids, including intoxicating hemp-derived THC.

The authorization of FieldProtect in California marks a significant step for N2OFF as it expands its footprint in agricultural solutions that emphasize safety, quality, and sustainability from field to fork. This product, proven in third-party trials, has demonstrated up to 90% reduction in disease development in cannabis inflorescences compared to untreated plants. This is critical as pathogen contamination can significantly affect both medical and recreational users, leading to potential health risks and costly product recalls.

N2OFF, formerly known as Save Foods, Inc., operates through three subsidiaries. Save Foods Ltd. focuses on reducing pathogen contamination and chemical usage in post-harvest treatments of fruits and vegetables, thereby extending their shelf life. Another subsidiary, NTWO OFF Ltd., offers innovative solutions to reduce nitrous oxide emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. N2OFF also holds a minority stake in Plantify Foods, Inc., a Canadian company that produces a variety of clean-label, nutritious, and easy-to-prepare foods.
