A total investment of $ 3 billion is planned by Uralkali for the 5-year period 2020 to 2025. $ 1.4 billion of the funds will be invested in increasing potassium chloride production capacities up to 15 million tons, and the rest will be spent on the current projects.

Uralkali intends to allocate $ 528 million for the construction of the Ust-Yaivinsky mine to be able to bring it to its design capacity in 2024. As much as $ 730 million are estimated to be directed to Solikamsk-2 mine, which is forecasted to reach the specified load in 2025.

The project on the development of the Polovodovsky site of the Verkhnekamskoye potassium and magnesium salts deposit is designed to be implemented in two stages. The completion of the first stage is scheduled for 2025 and it will require $ 308 million in capital investments.

And a couple of scenarios have been drafted for the second stage. According to one of them, an ore processing factory is supposed to be created, and it is not suggested in the second option. Thus, the necessary investments are estimated at 1.9 and 1.36 billion dollars respectively. The final decision on the choice of scenario will be made in 2023.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
