Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers automating ammophos production

Modernization of the automated process control system in Ammophos Shop # 2 is nearing completion at the Voskresensk Mineral Fertilizers plant (part of Uralchem). The works are part of the long-term program at the enterprise and provide for the transition to modern controllers.

To date, about 90% of all monitoring and process control parameters of Ammophos Shop # 2 have been transferred to the new control system. More than 700 channels of the state of control parameters of equipment, measurements of various physical quantities, such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, vibration, speed, and information about the position of parts and mechanisms, were connected to the controllers. New mnemonic diagrams were developed and introduced, making the automated workstations of Ammophos Shop # 2 more convenient and informative for the operators.

These measures were carried out together with the partial replacement of the obsolete instrumentation pool stock of the workshop, communication lines and main switching and distribution equipment. A full transition to the new control system is planned for June 2020. With the completion of work, the risks of unscheduled downtime of technological equipment will be significantly reduced, and it will also be possible to program and repair controllers without stopping them due to a hot reserve.
