Nutrien Ag Solutions was fined for usage of illegal pesticides

The US Environmental Protection Agency fined Nutrien Ag Solutions for using illegal pesticides. Moreover, the company applied them inappropriately. Nutrien Ag Solutions is obliged to pay a fine of $668.1 thousand.

As follows from the statement of the Agency, Nutrien Ag Solutions has repeatedly used dicamba-based products, which shouldn’t be applied to the fields. In 2020, the US Environmental Protection Agency banned the use of these pesticides since they cause harm to human health.

“It’s crucially important to use pesticides following the requirements to its application to prevent its spread outside the field and protect non-target crops,” said Edward H. Chu, the Representative of the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Nutrien Ag Solutions has taken measures to address violations, including training on pesticide use and improving record keeping. The company is engaged in the sale of mineral fertilizers of the Canadian fertilizer producer Nutrien and provides fertilizer application services to farmers.
