CF Industries will close its UK factory
The American company CF Industries has decided to restructure its business to ensure its profitability and long-term sustainability.
Within its framework, the chemical plant Ince (Great Britain), which was suspended in September 2021 due to high gas prices, necessary for the production of nitrogen fertilizers, will be completely closed. The work of the second enterprise of the company, Billingham, stopped as well but it was resumed after the British government provided financial support.
After evaluating the performance of both plants, the management of CF Industries decided to permanently close Ince, leaving only Billingham to operate.
CF Industries will now be consulting with unions on layoffs and compensation for 283 Ince employees. In total, 544 employees work at both British enterprises of CF Industries and at the office of its subsidiary CF Fertilisers UK.
