Saturn fertilizer and pesticides tracing system was launched in Russia

The state information system for the traceability of pesticides and fertilizers — Saturn, developed by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor), has been launched in a pilot mode.

The trial operation will test the Saturn system in a mode close to real operating conditions and will collect suggestions for its development. The final launch is scheduled for September 1 this year.

Saturn was created to monitor information about pesticides and fertilizers and operations related to their turnover. Thus, Saturn is expected to provide full information on the actual use of pesticides in agriculture and environmental burden caused by their application in Russia. The system will also flexibly respond to changes in the global product safety rules, counter illegal trade in pesticides and fertilizers, and prevent situations that could threaten public health or the environment.
