Cultivation area in the Kurgan region will expand by 2.2%

The farmers of the Kurgan region have begun preparations for the spring sowing campaign of 2023. Last year, 1.360 million hectares of agricultural land were sown with grain and leguminous crops, this year the area of arable land will increase by 2.2% to 1.390 million hectares.

At the initiative of the Governor of the Kurgan region Vadim Shumkov, work is underway in the region to introduce arable land into circulation. In the last four years alone, 135 thousand hectares of previously empty land have been used. In 2023-2025, it’s planned to put into circulation 327 thousand hectares.

Currently, to support agriculture in the Kurgan region, the government implements such measures as reimbursement of part of the costs of agricultural work, insurance, and subsidies for land reclamation.
