PhosAgro expands its product line with water-soluble ammophos

The Volkhov branch of Apatit (part of PhosAgro) is expanding its range of mineral fertilizers with water-soluble ammophos.

Water-soluble ammophos is highly demanded by farmers and is widely used in foliar technologies and fertigation. Nitrogen and phosphorus are contained there in a ratio of 12:61. The product is almost 100% water soluble and has the lowest turbidity, which makes the fertilizer the most effective for drip irrigation.

“Water-soluble ammophos can be effectively used on open ground for all major crops and may be included in the complex plant nutrition systems based on liquid mineral fertilizers. At the same time, its introduction does not require special equipment. In addition, unlike conventional granulated ammophos, our water-soluble ammophos has virtually no ballast and can also be used on the protected ground for foliar top dressing. This will provide Russian farmers with domestic fertilizer for year-round harvest,” said Sergey Lobanov, Director of the Volkhov branch of Apatit.

For the production of a new type of mineral fertilizers, a technological scheme with a two-stage continuous crystallization has been implemented.

The production of water-soluble ammophos with a volume of 44 thousand tons per year is provided for by PhosAgro’s development strategy until 2025.

“Obtaining a new product is a real victory for our entire team. This is our common contribution to providing Russian farmers with high-quality fertilizers and to the country’s food security,” said PhosAgro CEO Mikhail Rybnikov.
