KuibyshevAzot became the winner of the EcoLeader-2022 competition

As part of the EcoLeader 2022 solemn ceremony held at the Samara State Philharmonic Hall on the eve of Ecologist’s Day, Vice Governor of the Samara region Viktor Kudryashov presented an award to KuibyshevAzot General Director Alexander Gerasimenko. “EcoLeader” is, perhaps, the most prestigious award of the ecological community in the region, recognition of the merits of the winners and their contribution to the worthwhile cause. Receiving the award, Alexander Viktorovich noted the importance of such recognition for the entire team of the company, where social and environmental responsibility is one of the company’s core values.

In 2022, the enterprise completed a large amount of work on the introduction of new advanced technologies and the technical re-equipment of existing production facilities. Over the past three years over 30 billion rubles (almost $361 million) have been allocated for these purposes. Preservation and protection of the environment, reducing the impact on it and the consumption of resources are one of the main elements of the KuibyshevAzot’s development strategy. Activities in these areas are implemented as an integral part of the company’s investment program. Consistently modernizing production facilities and introducing modern technologies, KuibyshevAzot successfully solves environmental safety issues. In 2022, the enterprise allocated 3.6 billion rubles (over $43.3 million) for environmental projects and activities. According to the results of 2022, air emissions were reduced by 4.3%, river water consumption – by 4.2%, runoff – by 5.8%, and the amount of pollutants in wastewater by more than 10%.

In 2022, the construction of an important environmental facility was completed, including a stormwater treatment plant in the city of Togliatti. The environmental project is included in the federal program “Improvement of the Volga” as part of the national project “Ecology” and was implemented at the expense of the enterprise’s own funds. Investments in it amounted to 1.5 billion rubles (almost $18.1 million). The operation of the new treatment facilities will make a significant contribution to the environmental improvement of the Volga region. As a result of the project implementation, the volume of polluted storm water discharges is expected to be reduced by 10.5 million cubic meters per year.

The company also implemented a number of technical measures aimed at reducing the impact on the environment. At the production of ammonium nitrate, the construction of a new granulation and evaporation plant was completed. Its commissioning, scheduled for 2023, will reduce atmospheric emissions by 200 tons per year.

Thanks to a systematic approach to environmental protection, over the past 10 years, with an increase in the volume of marketable products by 1.5 times, specific emissions have been reduced by 1.3 times, electricity consumption by 1.7 times, heat energy by 1.4 times, the formation of wastewater by 1.3 times, consumption of river water by 1.4 times, consumption rates for benzene were reduced by 10%, and for natural gas by 11%. The work on the use of production waste as secondary resources also brings beneficial effect on the environment.
