Yara Clean Ammonia and Cepsa agreed on strategic partnership

Yara Clean Ammonia and Cepsa have signed a strategic partnership to build the first clean hydrogen maritime corridor between the ports of Algeciras and Rotterdam to decarbonize European industry and maritime transport.

As part of the agreement, Yara Clean Ammonia will supply Cepsa with clean ammonia, allowing the energy company to gain an edge in building a clean hydrogen corridor and lead the initiative to serve industrial and marine customers in Rotterdam and Central Europe.

The alliance with Yara Clean Ammonia will help create a safe, sustainable and cost-effective clean ammonia supply chain for Cepsa’s industrial and marine customers in Rotterdam and Central Europe. The partnership also paves the way for Cepsa to deliver the first clean hydrogen molecules to its customers using Yara Clean Ammonia’s global supply base and logistical capabilities. This, in turn, will enable the energy company to start selling pure hydrogen and pure ammonia to industrial and marine customers in Rotterdam and Central Europe.

The alliance includes Yara Clean Ammonia as a new partner in the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley. Yara Clean Ammonia and Cepsa will work comprehensively to establish a reliable supply chain for the implementation of the clean hydrogen corridor. Cepsa will build a new green ammonia plant at its energy park in São Roque, Cadiz near the port of Algeciras, with an annual production capacity of up to 750 thousand tons.
