Illegal Fertilizer Stash Busted in Bangladesh: Over 400 Sacks Seized
In a crackdown on illicit fertilizer trading in the Bangladesh city of Rangpur, police have arrested Hafizur Rahman and confiscated 408 sacks of fertilizer destined for the black market. The haul, valued at US$4,800, was discovered in a yellow truck during a raid on the new truck stand area of Rangpur city on September 5, 2023.
Kazi Muttaki Ibnu Minan, Deputy Commissioner of DB Police, shared the development during a press conference at the Metropolitan Police Intelligence Office in Rangpur city on September 6, 2023. Rahman, a 35-year-old resident of Kalikapur village in the Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari, revealed that he had procured the fertilizer from various dealers with the intention of selling it on the black market. The list of dealers includes Anisar Rahman, Rafiqul Islam, Mostak Ali, Ashikur Rahman, Tariqul Islam, Ranju Mia, Mojahedul Islam, and Feroz Alam.
