Lemon trees demand specific care to flourish and produce fruit, with one of the key components being proper fertilization. This article outlines the best fertilizers to ensure healthy growth of lemon trees. Essential for lemon trees is a balanced intake of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which is best supplied through NPK fertilizer. These three nutrients are crucial for the tree’s development.

It is also vital to consider the sensitivity of lemon trees to excessive salts, which can harm their roots. Hence, experts recommend using slow-release or organic fertilizers that mitigate this risk. Popular organic options include compost, worm castings, and manure. These organic choices not only supply nutrients gradually but also enhance the soil’s structure, which supports the tree’s overall development.

Additionally, magnesium sulfate, commonly known as Epsom salts, is recommended for lemon trees. This fertilizer contributes magnesium necessary for photosynthesis and chlorophyll production in the leaves, further supporting the tree’s health and productivity.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
