Innovafeed and Agryco have announced a strategic partnership for the commercialization of Hilucia “Frass for plants” organic fertilizer. This collaboration between insect-based agricultural and aquaculture solutions company Innovafeed and Agryco, which is a prominent platform for natural agricultural inputs, aims to offer a sustainable alternative in fertilizer technology.

Hilucia Frass, produced from the organic residues of Innovafeed’s insect breeding processes, offers a rich mix of organic matter and essential nutrients such as nitrogen. Its introduction is timely, given the growing demand for environmentally friendly farming solutions that do not compromise soil health or crop productivity.

Hilucia Frass for plants, a 100% natural fertilizer made from dried, pelletized and hygienized droppings of Hermetia illucens larvae.

Both companies are French-based and share a vision of leveraging innovative technologies to enhance farming practices. Innovafeed, known for its pioneering role in utilizing insects like the Hermetia illucens (black soldier fly) in animal and plant nutrition, brings its expertise in sustainable ingredient production. In contrast, Agryco provides an innovative digital platform that bridges farmers with eco-responsible input suppliers.

Clément Ray, CEO and co-founder of Innovafeed, highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing sustainable agriculture. “This partnership with Agryco aligns with our commitment to introduce products that support both the environment and farm productivity,” he stated. Clément Le Fournis, Managing Director of Agryco, also emphasized the initiative’s alignment with their mission to foster a regenerative and resilient agricultural model.

This alliance marks a significant step towards reducing the agricultural sector’s environmental footprint by promoting the use of natural, sustainable inputs.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
