Planet Labs and Farmdar have formalized a direct partnership aimed at enhancing the quality and scope of agricultural analytics through the integration of high-frequency satellite imagery and AI models. The agreement strengthens an existing collaboration between the two companies, which began in 2022, and reflects rising demand for data-driven tools in global agriculture.

Under the terms of the new deal—valued in the six-figure range—Farmdar gains expanded access to Planet’s archive of PlanetScope data, including Planet Basemaps. These near-daily satellite images will support Farmdar’s AI-based crop intelligence platform, enabling more precise mapping, crop detection, and yield forecasting at scale.

Headquartered in Singapore, Farmdar serves agricultural producers and processors across multiple regions, with a growing focus on clients in complex crop categories such as sugarcane. The company leverages artificial intelligence to analyze geospatial data and deliver insights on field boundaries, land classification, and plant health.

“Partnering directly with Planet is a significant step forward for Farmdar and our commitment to delivering best-in-class agricultural intelligence,” said David Pridmore, Chief Technology Officer at Farmdar. “This relationship gives us the foundational data quality and refresh rate necessary to model and monitor complex crops with higher precision.”

Planet, based in San Francisco, operates one of the world’s largest fleets of Earth-observing satellites and delivers imagery services to sectors including agriculture, forestry, and government. The firm’s daily imaging capabilities allow for near-real-time monitoring of environmental and land-use changes.

“We’ve seen the power of AI solutions and satellite data together to unlock insights about our changing world,” said Ashley Johnson, Planet’s President and CFO. “Farmdar’s agricultural optimization platform, powered by PlanetScope data, can help deliver more sustainable and productive outcomes across farming operations worldwide.”

The partnership reflects a broader industry trend toward integrated satellite-AI solutions to support yield improvement, resource efficiency, and climate resilience. Both companies said the collaboration is designed to scale with future client demand and regional expansion.

Europe is falling behind in this field. The concerns 30 years ago was reasonable. Now not so much. We need crops that can survive in a more extreme future climate. Handle droughts and hot weather better. Crops that are less tasty to pests like hogs and deere.
