HGS BioScience acquires Pharmgrade to expand biologicals platform

HGS BioScience, a biological crop inputs company backed by Paine Schwartz Partners, has acquired Idaho-based Pharmgrade, expanding its capabilities in microbial technologies and advancing its strategy to build a fully integrated biologicals platform.
The transaction follows HGS BioScience’s combination with NutriAg in late 2025 and marks another step in the company’s effort to scale its presence across biological crop inputs in North America and international markets.
Pharmgrade specializes in microbial consortium products and brings more than three decades of development experience to the platform. The addition broadens HGS BioScience’s technical capabilities, which already span humates, bionutritionals, and plant extracts, and strengthens its ability to deliver integrated biological solutions to retailers and growers.
With the addition of Pharmgrade, HGS BioScience now offers a portfolio covering humates, bionutritionals, plant extracts, and microbial products. The company said the platform enables technologies to be combined for multiple modes of action and delivered in liquid, powder, or granular form.
