UFA acquisition of AgraCity assets set to expand fertilizer blending capacity in Western Canada

UFA Co-operative’s acquisition of key assets from AgraCity Crop & Nutrition is set to strengthen fertilizer supply in western Canada, primarily by expanding blending capacity in Saskatchewan. The deal includes a fertilizer blending facility in Belle Plaine, which will produce customized NPK blends using bulk nutrients sourced from domestic and global markets.
While the transaction does not increase Canada’s primary fertilizer production—such as nitrogen, phosphate, or potash—it enhances downstream capacity. Blending facilities typically handle tens to hundreds of thousands of metric tons annually, improving the availability of tailored fertilizers for local crops and soil conditions.
The addition of AgraCity’s distribution fleet and packaging operations is also expected to improve logistics and delivery across the Prairies. For farmers, the main impact will be more reliable access to blended fertilizers and greater product choice, particularly during peak planting seasons.
