Kirovo-Chepetsk Plant repairs nitric acid workshop

Kirovo-Chepetsk Chemical Plant (KCKK, part of Uralchem) has completed the repair process at UKL-7 aggregate of the nitric acid workshop. The working plan included inspection and reparation of processing equipment and turbomachinery, as well as the expert appraisal of industrial safety.

The gas turbine compressor set is foremost in the process of obtaining weak nitric acid. It aims to provide the process site of the aggregate with oxygen and steam production. Technicians inspected for the operable condition of all the components of the installation: turbo-compressor, abridger, E-motor, supercharger and air cooler.

Specialists cleaned sludge and sandy deposit on the heat exchangers. They also performed a diagnosis of heat-exchange tubes. Early diagnostics act to raise the durability of the devices and to reduce their breakage risk while the aggregate in operation.

Repairs touched upon the contact apparatus and inspected absorber column as well. The contractor conducted operations on removing and applying heat isolation. They also installed and removed the scaffold and painted the equipment.

“The repair core task is to achieve uninterrupted manufacture and avoid plant downtime. Only a complex approach, where we pay attention to each detail and document, can deliver the desired results,” stressed the manager of the KCKK nitric acid workshop Andrey Shilov.
